Spotlight:
Jorge Valdes a/k/a Art Java

Many have asked about the book cover. Let me introduce you to its creator who’s as lively and colorful as his work. First, though, may I suggest you check out his live Art & Wine/Cocktail soirees held on FaceBook! He and his partner even share the recipes for their mixed drinks du jour as they take you on a tour of the gallery. (Last time they made mojitos; I took the easy way out and sipped Moscato.) You can purchase his incredible works on-line.

Now, here he is, in his own words:

Jorge A. Valdes (JAVA), born in 1956, is a Cuban American self-taught artist living in New York since 1992. His work in mosaics and found objects are his passion and identity which has won him two BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) awards with Bronx Council On The Arts for excellence in those mediums. JAVA currently works from his South Bronx studio, while staying active with the public on community art projects and workshops.
